Band of Strings
Simon Heggendorn – violin
Ronny Spiegel – violin
David Schnee – viola
Sebastian Braun – cello

The Kaleidoscope String Quartet penetrates brilliantly into untypical string quartet territory. The four classically and jazz trained musicians find their own sound language, which explores musical boundaries and always seeks points of contact to genres such as jazz, pop and rock and contemporary music. Edgy grooves alternate with sound paintings and folky melodies are juxtaposed with improvisations that are open to experimentation. Interaction and spontaneity are central to the ensemble, which sees itself more as a band than a classical quartet and gives its performances without music stands. KSQ’s repertoire consists mainly of original compositions by violinist Simon Heggendorn and violist David Schnee.
